Friday, June 12 @ 3PM ET
Today, America is contending with twin pandemics. These two – systemic racism and COVID-19 – must be addressed, and each of us has a role to play in defeating them.
In this week’s ASMP Friday Town Hall No.13, “The Movement and The Moment: A Town Hall in Two Parts,” Executive Director Tom Kennedy’s special guest is Archy LaSalle, a fine art photographer based in Boston and the founder of “WHERE ARE ALL THE BLACK PEOPLE AT.”
“WHERE ARE ALL THE BLACK PEOPLE AT” is a project that began with the slow burn realization that there was a colossal lack of representation of Black visual artists in the permanent collections of art museums in the United States. It appears that we have been lulled to sleep about this issue since museums regularly have periodic “shows” where Black and Brown artists are represented, most notably during Black History Month in February. However, we believe that art institutions need to validate these important artists by purchasing their work and including these important works of art as part of their collection.
Following Tom’s discussion with Archy, ASMP General Counsel Tom Maddrey will join us for his weekly update on COVID-19 and the associated federal relief programs for small business:
• Fundamental changes to the Payroll Protection Plan resulting from the new PPP Flexibility Act having been signed into law.
• Further insight into the complicated world of the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program
• The latest on safety while photographing
If you are unable to attend, this Town Hall will be recorded and posted on the COVID-19 Town Hall Q&A Archives page where videos for previous Town Hall Q&As are posted.
ASMP also has set up a COVID-19 Info Hub where you can find information, watch videos, and be connected with the most useful resources.
We hope to see you on Friday.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][nectar_btn size=”jumbo” open_new_tab=”true” button_style=”regular” button_color_2=”Extra-Color-2″ icon_family=”none” text=”REGISTER NOW” url=”https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_2osm1qO9SgeBQE2BR_PcJg”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
