For this week’s Town Hall, we are going to bring it back to one of the most important things that affects each and every photographer and small business owner: copyright.

Starting with a review of the CASE Act and the benefits of its passage by ASMP Executive Director Tom Kennedy, we’ll pivot to reviewing the basics of copyright law, check on the new rules and court rulings, discuss fair use and registration and so much more. Of course, we’ll have an open Q&A session after that to discuss copyright, CASE Act, EIDL, PPP, etc. Bring your questions, bring a friend, ask anything you want. We are here for you!

Tom Kennedy

Tom Kennedy has been ASMP’s Executive Director since 2015. He has more than 40 years of experience in print and online journalism and an international reputation as a visual communicator. His career background includes posts as deputy graphics editor at the Philadelphia Inquirer, director of photography at National Geographic and managing editor, multimedia at the Washingtonpost-Newsweek Interactive, in addition to extensive teaching experience. Kennedy has created, directed and edited projects that have earned Pulitzer Prizes, Emmys, Edward R. Murrow Awards and a Peabody.

Thomas Maddrey is ASMP’s General Counsel. He is the founding partner and lead attorney for Maddrey PLLC, a boutique firm dedicated to art law and creative business law. Mike Klipper
Advocacy Counsel @ ASMP
Over a storied career, attorney Mike Klipper has been involved in myriad legal and legislative issues primarily in the areas of copyright and constitutional law. He served as counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee from 1975-1982 and was in-house counsel to the Motion Picture Association and the Association of American Publishers. In twenty-seven years of private practice, Mike has represented individuals, trade associations, legislative coalitions and Fortune 500 companies. Since 2015, he has served as Advocacy Counsel to ASMP before Congress and the Copyright Office.
