ASMP COVID-19 Town Hall Q&A – May 8, 2020
ASMP Executive Director Tom Kennedy and General Counsel and Tom Maddrey answer your questions and bring you the latest news, with commentary from Advocacy Counsel Mike Klipper on Capitol Hill. Topics include but may not be limited to:
• Safety on Set: Photographers are beginning to start working again, and ASMP has received many questions about how to get back to work safely and with legal protection for you and your clients. Tom will discuss both on-set and on-location shooting, liability waivers, etc. This will be an introduction to the next Wednesday Webinar where Tom will take a deep dive into all of these areas. That is coming up next Wednesday, May 13 @ 3pm ET.
• 1099 / W-2 Workers and the Unemployment Problems: We have been hearing from many members and photographers that they have been prevented from gaining the benefits of the CARES Act that were designed for freelancers and independent contractors because they have minimal W-2 income. This is not acceptable, and ASMP has been reaching out to states and unemployment offices to get to the bottom of what you can do to make your voice heard.
• Update on PPP, EIDL, and Other Business Resources: Finally, in addition to your questions, Tom will review the current state of the PPP, EIDL, and, for the first time, offer information on other programs designed to help your business stay afloat and be prepared to get back to work at both the state and federal level.
A Q&A session for attendees follows the presentation.
