Cross-posted from PDN. [By David Walker] “Photographers are getting more and more work from production companies, as brands seek fast, economical ways to source photography and video for social media.
Before the age of social media, advertising agencies doled out most of the advertising photography assignments. Now, video production companies are hiring a lot of photographers and photographer/directors on behalf of a wide range of clients, from emerging brands to Fortune 100 companies. Those clients are going directly to production houses, rather than to ad agencies, to get a lot of digital assets quickly—and at a lower cost. Much of the work is for both still and video production to feed the digital marketing maw.”
