January 2025 is right around the corner and tax time will be here before you know it!   ASMP Seattle/Northwest is pleased to present Howard Choder with a timely presentation to help you prepare and handle your taxes.

Topics to include:

• How NOT to be a Entity selection (should I be a Sole Proprietor or an LLC?)
• Common deductions for photographers
• Retirement plans (better to pay yourself than Uncle Sam)

Howard, fondly known as the “Taxman,” began his tax career at the IRS shortly after graduating from college in 1983. After gaining invaluable experience at the IRS, he pursued his passion for photography, enrolling in photography school. However, his peers were more interested in his tax expertise than his photographs, often seeking his advice on their tax concerns. This unexpected demand for tax information inspired Howard to establish Taxman and Associates just two years later. Drawing on his extensive knowledge from both his IRS tenure and private practice, he provided expert tax solutions to a growing list of clients, including many ASMP members through the years.

Over the next 25 years, Howard built a thriving practice before transitioning into a new chapter. He sold his tax firm and now serves as a strategic advisor specializing in tax planning. Additionally, he acts as an independent trustee/fiduciary, managing trusts for his clients with the same dedication and precision that defined his career.

Howard’s commitment to improving the tax landscape extends to his role on the IRS Citizen Advisory Panel (Taxpayer Advocate Panel), where he evaluates inefficiencies and provides actionable recommendations to the Taxpayer Advocate. With decades of experience and an unparalleled depth of tax knowledge, Howard has earned his reputation as a highly respected and sought-after tax expert.
