Rain or Shine! We’re hardy PNWers!
Join ASMP+NANPA Seattle/NW members as we stroll the updated Seattle Waterfront, enjoy each other’s company and share unique perspectives. This event will be led by ASMP and NANPA members.
To catch the good light we’ll start early. Sunrise is about 6:30 but we won’t start quite that early! However, you may want to arrive before our meeting time to catch the light as it first kisses the city.
We’ll gather at Caffè Umbria in Occidental Square at 8:30 am. We’ll spend a little time meeting each other before heading out. Then, we’ll stroll down to the updated Waterfront Park and walkway starting at Washington Street Boat Landing. From there we’ll head north to the Overlook Walk which connects the Waterfront to the Pike Place Market. Along the way we’ll pass the small Habitat Beach, lots of new art installations, the gorgeous new Washington State Ferry Terminal, the Great Wheel, Miner’s Landing with it’s arcade attractions, the new (and old) Seattle Aquarium Buildings. If the weather cooperates we’ll have views of the Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound and maybe some marine life!
There are many ways to make this walk your own either solo or with a small group. Spend more time along First or Western in Pioneer Square, make a side trip to Post Alley (several segments along the way), explore the view from a parking garage for a different perspective. Zoom all the way up to Olympic Sculpture Park before rejoining the group at the final meeting spot. (Final meeting spot TBD, weather dependent)
Maps with an approximate route will be handed out at the event.
With our start time on Sunday morning street parking should be available both near Caffè Umbria and at the north end of the route. You may want to consider parking at the end of our route near Pike Place or the Aquarium. There is no charge for street parking on Sundays, but some spots have a two-hour limit so check the signs.
