ASMP/NANPA + PCNW for Chase the Light

Photographic Center Northwest (PCNW) is a great resource for our community and a great partner for ASMP/NANPA Seattle/NW. We are able to host some meetings at their facility and many of our members take advantage of the programs, classes and workshops they offer.
In mid-June they host their primary fundraiser, Chase the Light (CTL), a really fun community event! Over the weekend of June 14th and 15th photographers throughout the world1 will capture photos and by Monday June 16, at noon (PDT) will submit them, electronically.2 Every photographer3 will have one image chosen to be part of a Pop-Up Show and Print Sale on June 21. The money raised supports PCNW programs. There is a suggested donation of $25 to participate, but to allow access to all you choose what you pay when you submit your images. THIS YEAR WE ARE ADDING SOMETHING NEW!!
At the June 21 Pop-up and Print Sale all photographs submitted by ASMP and NANPA members will be grouped together with a banner noting our association. This is a great way to bring attention to our local chapter and the National organization overall.
To have your photograph included in our special display do two things when you register. First, in the “How did you hear about this event?” section, please indicate ASMP Event. The next box asks who referred you. Please enter ASMP-NANPA. Also, please RSVP for this ASMP event so we can ensure all ASMP/NANPA photographers are included. That’s it! Anyone, anywhere in the world can enter! Just ensure you submit your entries by noon PST on June 16!
Complete the following steps/registrations to participate – details below:
- Register on the PCNW CTL site ensuring you enter the info as shown in the image below
- RSVP for this event so we can ensure your images are included.
- (Optional) Attend the Pop-up Exhibit on June 21 then join us at Rhein Haus to celebrate!
PCNW handles the printing and hanging of the show. (That alone is worth the $25 donation!) Once you register you’ll have access to special programming, including a Capitol Hill Photowalk with ASMP member Kate Hailey. Other exclusive programming includes Bookmaking with Blurb; a Lumen & Chemigram Printing Workshop; an Image Transfer Workshop – and more.
This is one of the easiest ways ever to support a local resource! I know many of you have participated in the past and we hope you will this year, too!
We encourage everyone to visit the exhibit, whether you submitted an image or not. There are great photos available to purchase, another way to support PCNW. It’s really fun and amazing to see several hundred photos covering every wall and display space at PCNW. ASMP/NANPA will have a social gathering nearby, (bring friends & family) – hope to see you there!

3 Everyone is a photographer! Use of any sort of camera (including phones) as are special processes. Maybe this is the year you try something new: ICM, multi-exposure, cyanotype, mixed media – the possibilities are endless.
