Wanted: 2026 ASMP Seattle/NW Board Members

We are looking for five volunteers to join the Board for 2026.  Seven of our members will be continuing into 2026 so you’ll be joining a team with experience.

About the Board

There are a few requirements volunteers must meet:

• This is a volunteer position
• You must indicate your interest by sending email to: Seattle@ASMP.org by midnight, Sunday, October 12, 2025
• Any paid level membership is eligible to volunteer
• We meet monthly  via a  90-minute online call and expect all members to attend (we understand there may sometimes be conflicts in timing)
• Occasionally, other meetings are required for specific projects or events
• You should be willing to plan and lead/co-lead an event* and/or contribute on a regular basis via one of our administrative tasks
• You should attend as many events as possible and be willing to help the event organizer, as needed
• We prefer board members commit for a 2 to 3 year period, but that is not required.  At a minimum 1 year is expected

If you are interested in moving the chapter forward and are willing to commit to the requirements you should volunteer!

Depending on the number of volunteers an official election may be needed. That will be determined on October 13, 2026.

Once volunteers are selected, and if needed,  the committee will choose officers from among themselves.  Officers must have a Professional or Leader ASMP membership.

It would be great to have more representation from the entire chapter (Eastern Washington, Tacoma area, Montana, etc). We are especially interested in recruiting members outside the Seattle area to represent their geographic area, manage satellite events either in conjunction with Seattle events (e.g. the annual slideshow event), or standalone events such as coffee meetups, local pub nights, photowalks.  We also encourage those new to the photography profession to volunteer.

If more than five members volunteer, we may need to schedule a formal voting process but will address that, if needed.

Timeline

• Email sent week of September 14, 2025 to ensure all members are aware of this opportunity
• Members will have 30 days from the date of this post (midnight October 12, 2025) to express interest in joining the Steering Committee
• If five  or fewer members volunteer, we will move forward to establish the Board by meeting soon after the 30-day deadline.
• If more than five members volunteer, we may need to hold an official election. If an election is necessary, we’ll provide additional information about the process and timeline
