PCNW’s Chase the Light Fundraiser

Join PCNW for their summer celebration of photography! PCNW’s annual fundraiser, Chase the Light is less than a month away!  As a supporter of and partner to ASMP Seattle/NW we are encouraging all to participate in this fun event.  Anyone, anywhere in the world can join in.

This is a two-part event:  On June 8th and 9th each photographer photographs whatever they wish*, wherever they are.  PCNW also offers a few workshops and photowalks that weekend to aid in your image creation.  Once you register you’ll be sent links to all events, so the sooner you register the better!  One of the workshops will be taught by ASMP member, Kate Hailey.  Photos must be submitted by noon on June 10th (digital images) or noon on June 12th (analog images).  You may submit up to five images.  One image from each entry will be selected, then PCNW handles the printing for all digital images.

The following Saturday, June 15th, PCNW hosts a a pop-up exhibition and fundraiser at their location.  This is time to mix and mingle with other photographers, as well as purchase anything that catches your eye.  The photos are also sold online.  Any photo not sold that night or once the online shop closes may be used by PCNW for awareness for their programs.

There is a small suggested donation for entry ($20), however, there is also a Pay As You Can option.  Considering that they are handling the printing and logistics this is a very fair deal!

We’d love to see a strong presence of ASMP/NANPA members at this show.  They have offered free use of their facilities to us and we will be taking them up on that offer in the future.  Supporting this event is a great way to show our appreciation.

There’s a potential opportunity to have all photos submitted by ASMP/NANPA members grouped in one section at the event.  We’ve set up a poll to gauge interest in this idea.  Please take a minute to complete the poll (four easy questions) to see if we should proceed with this idea. And…. stay tuned for a possible small event the evening of the exhibition pop-up!  Members could attend the show, then around 7:30 we’d pop over to Rhein Haus (next door) for a no-host gathering.

*There is no theme, but keep in mind that certain images containing scenes of a graphic nature (such as explicit nudity, sexual acts, or violence) may not be appropriate for our younger audience members.
