PRESS RELEASE

May 11, 2020

The ASMP Foundation is proud to announce the creation of a new grant program intended for photography professionals affected by the COVID-19 virus. It is called the “ASMP Donor’s Circle.”

With an initial pool of $5,000, 20 grants of $250 will be awarded in the beginning phase. ASMP is now looking to its members to fund the Donor’s Circle further. 50 members, with each offering $500 tax-deductible donations, will create a pool that will provide grants for an additional 100 people.

This project was inspired by a member who wanted to help others economically affected by the current pandemic.

In John Hayne’s own words:

“COVID-19 has upended everything for folks who work on photo sets, and it’s hard to know what returning to work will mean or when it will happen. For so many, immediate financial needs are front of mind. I’m fortunate to be in a position that my immediate financial needs are met; when I got my stimulus check I felt I didn’t really need it, but knew there were some other folks who did. That was the beginning of a donor circle. If you are someone who is serious about their photo career and finding yourself in financial need; please reach out to the ASMP Donor’s Circle. I want as many of us to come out the other side of this as possible, and the best way to do that is together.” John’s work can be found at on Instagram @johnhaynesphoto or at http://www.johnhaynesphoto.com/ Photographers, stylists, assistants, digital techs, production assistants and anyone else who makes a living in the still or motion capture business will be eligible.

For any questions about this program, please contact ASMP Foundation Board Chair, Michael Shay.
