Philadelphia, PA… Eugene H. Mopsik, Executive Director of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) has announced that the association has developed new education tools for the industry which are now available free of charge. All interested photographers now have access to the ASMP daily blog as well as the popular and acclaimed Strictly Business 2 series covering topics such as copyright, pricing, negotiating, and building a photography business. ASMP, the premier trade association with more than 7,000 photographers who create images primarily for publication, is a leader in providing business education for professional photographers.

According to Mopsik, “ASMP has created these resources to provide a forum for training in critically important skills and fostering new ideas. Our goal is to continue to support the needs of photographers at all career stages, and to build an informed and savvy professional photography community.”

“We are very excited to be able to present videos on topics which are vital to photographers,” said Susan Carr, ASMP Education Coordinator. “In addition, we will have featured daily blog posts and links to relevant on-line resources. Our future plans include instructional podcasts and a calendar of ASMP’s programs — making this the ‘go to’ business resource for photographers.”

Contributors to the video lecture series include ASMP members Richard Kelly, Judy Herrmann, Blake Discher, Leslie Burns-Dell’Acqua and Carr. The videos also have interviews with preeminent member photographers Barbara Bordnick, Paul Elledge, Steve Grubman, Chase Jarvis, Lou Jones, and Paula Lerner. The videos can be viewed

Sponsors of the Strictly Business 2 video lecture series include Microsoft, Adobe, and the ASMP Foundation, whose mission is to support the educational purposes and activities of the organization. A portion of the funding is from non-title-specific photography payments received in 2007 from the Author’s Coalition, which specified its use for furthering industry education and advocacy.

Founded in 1944, ASMP is the leader in promoting photographers’ rights, providing education in better business practices, producing business publications for photographers, and helping to connect purchasers with professional photographers. ASMP has 39 chapters across the country and its members include many of the world’s foremost photographers.
