Philadelphia, PA… The American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) has announced plans for the newest generation of its highly acclaimed Strictly Business conference series for photographers. Strictly Business 3 (SB3) will offer a variety of topics to help photographers enhance their professionalism and build their business in three locations starting in early 2011. Three city stops are scheduled: January 21-23 in Los Angeles; February 25-27 in Philadelphia; and April 1-3 in Chicago.
According to Executive Director Eugene Mopsik, “ASMP continues to be the leader in providing education and training for photographers at all career stages. The Strictly Business conference series was developed to support the needs of professional photographers and to ensure they stay informed and savvy in the face of sweeping changes in our industry.”
“SB3 will offer a selection of topics from which photographers can choose, depending on their individual needs. The topics include new approaches to licensing and copyright in the online media age, branding and marketing, the business side of video, stock photography, new business models and strategic career planning,” said Education Director Susan Carr. “This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for photographers to learn new skills and gain ideas which can take their businesses to new levels.”
A portion of the funding of SB3 is from money ASMP has received from the Author’s Coalition, which is specified for furthering industry education and advocacy. This subsidy has allowed ASMP to keep attendance costs as low as possible. Conference fees, which include meals, receptions and programming, are: $200 for students; $250 for ASMP members; and $400 for non-members. As a special incentive, non-members who join ASMP within 30 days of attending the conference will receive a discount of $150 off their first year membership fee (with the exception of students, whose annual dues are only $45).
