Martha Rial

Martha Rial is Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer who specializes in documentary, editorial and portrait photography. Working mostly on location, she enjoys exploring communities and photographing people where they live, work and play. One of her many strengths is helping reluctant subjects to relax in order to create authentic portraits. Recents projects include the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project and Downtown Now (a special initiative of The Heinz Endowments). You can find her work in the permanent collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, BNY Mellon and Newseum in Washington D.C.
