Sexual Harassment: Taking a Stand, Creating A Safe Place

ASMP Oregon Takes A Stand Against Sexual Harassment & Violence In the Creative Industry
Be a part of The Solution and Join Us on June 12th from 6:30pm – 9:00pm at Lewis & Clark Law School

Sexual harassment and the abuse of power is both a moral and civil rights violation in the work place, and it‘s often overlooked every day. Recent events and the #MeToo movement have opened up the conversation on social media and created awareness to a broader audience.  Consequently, this heightened awareness could potentially generate impactful social change in regards to this important, highly charged issue.

As a result of many conversations within our own community, ASMP is producing a panel discussion dealing with these issues. We are not just searching for answers.  The veil has been lifted and the creative and visual arts arena is only one of the many industries where sexual harassment and violence is becoming more apparent to the general public.  And as members of that community, we feel compelled to take action.

Our goals for this event are:

  • To create positive answers to help people deal with harassment and sexual violence in the past and in the future as well as well as to empower people with tools to combat this far too prevalent problem.
  • To help create a safer work place for everyone and create a platform on which we can continue the discussion while also establishing an environment in which victims and witnesses of sexual violence feel safe to report these crimes.

We have gathered an amazing group of panelists who will be offering their expertise, their points of view, and their experiences to this long over due conversation. Please JOIN US Tuesday June 12th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm to learn what we all can do to TAKE A STAND against sexual harassment and violence, and CREATE A SAFE for the people affected by these offenses to get support and report offenders.
