President’s Message

Hello fellow members and friends!

At the end of the year, it is wonderful to know that ASMP is stronger than ever! Our national membership has increased by almost 20%, and we have a new executive director with a wealth of experience in photography, business, and the legal issues that impact our profession daily.

As for our local Oregon chapter, we concluded the year on a strong note with Steve Whittaker’s event on “Licensing and Protecting Your Intellectual Property.” Additionally, we collaborated with Blue Sky Gallery to present Barry Schwartz’s day-long seminar, “What It Takes,” which focused on building and maintaining a successful photographic career.

Looking ahead to 2025, we have exciting plans. Look out for our January event, which will focus on convincing clients to pay what a skilled photographer is worth. Plus, it’s Back! That’s right—this April will mark the return of PDX Squared, our 24-hour shoot-and-show event.  Registration will be announced soon, so don’t miss out—it’s sure to sell out.

Finally, we wanted to share some of our recent marketing efforts. Check out this video, shot and edited by Fletcher Wold, featuring Michael Shay. It showcases the value that ASMP can provide to its members.

In the meantime, stay tuned for further announcements. Feel free to reach out with any suggestions, questions, or observations about our images and our business.

Have a wonderful year!
