Many photographers work their jobs solo, but sometimes the job is large or complex enough that you need a good producer to make it a success. In this month’s Tech Talk, ASMP Ohio Valley is talking with producers Karmen Dann and Sara Galligan about what they do, when you should hire them, what you can learn from them, and some common mistakes they see photographers make. Also part of the conversation is commercial photographer Aaron Conway, who will talk about the value of working with producers from the photographer’s perspective.

Karmen Dann. With roots in style and casting, Karmen has married those passions to become an Award-winning producer. She combines her love for commercial and narrative to lend her creative services to any client looking to generate aspirational, relatability and authenticity within a body of work. Some of the brands she has worked with include Adidas, Spotify, DSW, Apple, and Netflix.
Sara Galligan started her production career in-house and then brought that knowledge to her freelance career, giving her a unique perspective on the shoot process. She has produced photo and video shoots of all shapes and sizes, with a specialty in fashion campaigns. Just a few of the brands she has worked with include Amazon, Orvis, DSW, Wendy’s, ESPN, and Chase.
Aaron Conway is a photographer, creative and previously, a sculptor, based in Cincinnati, Ohio. A sampling of his clients include Bristol Myers Squibb, Brooks Running, Hershey Company, Procter & Gamble, and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ben Ko (moderator). His images have been used by Fortune 100 companies such as Dell and Microsoft and have appeared everywhere from Times Square to The New York Times to the finish line area of the NYC Marathon.
