“The Long View of Cleveland – Capturing Time and Motion”

Ohio North Coast member, Roger Mastroianni will be featured in a solo exhibit at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center Trudy Wiesenberger Gallery.

The architectural landscape photography exhibit features state-of-the-art long exposure images that reveal the strange pandemic like calm and loneliness of the city’s landmarks, curves, lines, shadows, and edges juxtaposed with the movement and painterly celebration of Cleveland’s skies and water.

In this body of work, Roger explores the cutting-edge technique of Frame Averaging using the world’s highest resolution architectural camera. This method allows for extended exposures without the need for neutral density filters, creating smooth, painterly effects by blending movement and light over time. His two to ten minute exposures reveal Cleveland’s landmarks and cityscapes in a new light — clouds drifting like brushstrokes across the sky, water softened to glass, and the subtle interplay of light and shadow on architectural forms. His mastery of light, motion, and time is evident in every image, capturing the quiet grandeur and evolving energy of Cleveland with remarkable clarity and depth.
