Digital Asset Management Fundamentals

This 45 minute presentation will focus on fundamental DAM concepts for photographers. We will cover broad concepts dealing with Ingestion, processing, distributing and archiving digital assets. Topics include: Workflow ideas, planning for DAM, metadata basics, using or not using the cloud and some real world horror stories to make you feel better about your DAM system.

Please note, this presentation covers core concepts of DAMs for photographers, if you are comfortable in your understanding DAMs and are happy with your system this presentation may not be beneficial. We aren’t re-inventing the wheel here. Also, we will be focusing on managing STILL images, workflow for time-based media is for another day.

About Seth:

Sesthasak Boonchai (Seth) wears many creative hats: educator, artist and pre-media specialist. He has taught at the University of New Orleans, NOCCA, Tulane University and in the BFA Photography department at the School of Visual Arts. Currently he is the Digital Asset manager at the New Orleans Museum of Art and an MFA Studio Advisor at Maine College of Art. He is also the a co-founder of Pack/Peel/Pour, a company dedicated to publishing works by artists using instant photography.
