Quarterly Meeting – April 30

ASMP-NY Quarterly Member Meeting

Photography in the #MeToo Era

There’s no denying our industry has faced many changes lately. And one that cannot easily be overstepped, is the impact of the #MeToo movement on our community.  No matter what our individual experiences are, every one of us has had to adjust or reorient to creating a safer, more inclusive environment and culture, whether on set, in production, or at networking events.

How do we approach working relationships within this paradigm shift? Are hugs still okay? When are jokes allowed? How can we all still feel freely and fully self-expressed in a time that for many feels akin to censorship, while for many others, it feels like finally breaking down a long-standing imbalance?

Join us this Thursday, April 30th, for our first Membership Meeting of 2020, where we will be hosting an open-forum style Town Hall. The floor will be open to any and all members wishing to share thoughts, feelings, difficulties you’re encountering, or questions you might have about how to work within this new world. We will be creating a safe, inviting space for our whole community, and the discussion will be moderated and supported by Samantha Skaller, the Campus Coordinator at the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault. We will also be joined by our own ASMP legal representative, Tom Maddrey, who will share resources and insights as to how ASMP is available to members when personally encountering situations that result in feeling uncomfortable or taken advantage of.

We want to hear from you, and we want you to hear from each other.

When: Thursday, April 30, 2020
