What’s wrong (and right) with it

In the first of two webinars, Barry Schwartz will guide a tour of the long-time “bible” for photographers – why it remains a reliable, high-level guide to being a professional and why it needs to be updated.

To do that, I will need your help.

 Lots of the book is still relevant, but lots has changed since 2008 when the book last came out.  Digital, of course, changed everything.  Social media, licensing pressures, the culture of “free”, cell phones and consumer cameras that take amazing photos.

 Publications under stress, advertisers under stress, clients under stress. A person could get stressed out.

 What keeps you up at night?  What helps you sleep?  What’s better than it ever was?  What do you wish someone had told you years ago?

Barry Schwartz is a photographer, educator and writer.  He was a contributor to the 2008 edition and its sequel, The ASMP Guide To New Markets In Photography and is a contributing editor on the ASMP website.  His photo specialties are architecture and documentary work.  He has taught business practices at the college level and conducts workshops and webinars.  His writing includes essays about professional practices, non-fiction, and feature profiles.
