CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS How to put a book together: what you need to know before you go to the printer
ASMP NY is pleased to present a live, 3-hour workshop, in conjunction with our sponsor: Digital World Solutions.

This workshop is for two types of people:
- The person who has designed a book and wants to see a first printing of it
- The person who wants to understand what they need to know before they design a book
Do you have a book you think is ready to be printed? Bruce Byers, Digital World Solutions, will deconstruct and fix every aspect that must be addressed before a book goes to print. he thinks it will take about 3 hours to go through all the steps.
ASMP members are invited to submit their book for consideration.
One person will be selected from the submissions by Digital World Solutions, to have their book printed during a live workshop that will be broadcast via zoom, on April 10, 2025.
One copy of your book will be perfect-bound printed in soft-cover and be available for the live workshop scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Digital World Solutions in mid-town Manhattan.
To be considered for the printing, your book needs the following:
- A design that you think 100% ready to go
- Ideal size 9 inches wide by 12.5 inches high, or smaller
- Must have 1/4 inch bleed all the way around
- Should be 40 to 60 pages, (20 – 30 spreads)
- A wrap-around cover design (cover wraps in perfect bound)
- A high-rez proof
- An InDesign packet. Helpful info about this is located on the submission form

From Bruce Byers, the workshop presenter: Bring your InDesign file for your new book which you’ve worked many hours on, to Digital World. You have it all ready to go. Now you need to figure out how to print it. At Digital World, I will show you how your book goes from your InDesign file on the computer, to a perfect bound book that you can show to your friends, your clients, and even your mother. We are Digital World do custom printing so as we go through the process, we can correct mistakes teach you how to prep your files better for the printer, and in the end get an even better book. It should be an interesting night. We need one member who has a file that’s ready to print. He or she will walk out with a book.
