ASMP has been watching, heartbroken, as the fires in Los Angeles have displaced so many, including many in the ASMP family. ASMP stands in support of all those affected as well as the stalwart first responders and photojournalists who are doing everything they can to prevent further damage and destruction of life and property, and ensure that the images of this tragedy are brought to light.
Last night, the Los Angeles Chapter of ASMP posted this to their Instagram:
ASMP Los Angeles would like to express our deep concern and sympathy for all who have been adversely affected by the devastating fires raging through Los Angeles. With the far reaching threat and destruction, many people in our community have been evacuated or lost everything.
We also want to acknowledge the hard work of photojournalists and other image makers who have bravely risked their own safety to document the extent of the devastation.
Finally, we want to bring attention to the Photography Equipment Drive being organized by the Los Angeles Center of Photography (@la_centerofphoto). We’ll share more information about camera equipment donations and distribution to those in need as logistics are finalized.
