ASMP has introduced a new podcast and live broadcast event called ASMP Experts and Masters where we will bring candid conversations about the craft, business and the culture of photography between legendary photographers, creatives, thought leaders under the guidance of our rotating hosts. The program uses a casual discussion format that includes looking at a series of the guest’s images and hearing about the stories behind them.
Host Tom Kennedy is ASMP Executive Director and is a former multimedia editor of The Washington Post and Director of Photography at National Geographic. Host Luke Copping is an editorial and commercial photographer and current Chair of the ASMP National Board of Directors.
The show will cover topics related to the craft, business and the culture of photography. Each podcast episode will be live streamed on Facebook from the Facebook page of Photo Brigade (with 38,000+ followers). The podcast will be available afterward on Adorama’s YouTube page (724,000+ followers) and on ASMP’s iTunes Page (brand new!)
This is an exciting venture for us because we have so many talented people who are passionate about ASMP and are paying it forward by sharing what they know. Now we have another platform that allows them to do that. Tom Kennedy
Our first broadcast was experimental and took place on January 26th at Adorama in NYC with Doug Menuez discussing the business and technology of photography, and Alyssa Meadows discussing the realities of being a young photographer in NYC. Our second broadcast took place on March 2nd and featured Anne Geddes talking about the creative process that she uses in her work with babies, children, and pregnant women, and her observations about the human condition as a result of that work. We also featured Clay Patrick McBride talking about the realities of covering pop culture and the artists who create it. All podcasts will be archived on our Experts and Masters Page as they become available, so bookmark that page!
We are excited about the caliber of guests and the quality of the conversation that has come out of our first few episodes. Our goal is to continue producing shows on a monthly or bi-monthly basis but sponsorship will allow us to ramp this up more quickly.
Organizations interested in sponsoring should contact Trish Barber at trisha.barber@asmp.org.
