Behind the Lens: A Candid Look at Photography Assignments

January 18, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free – $10.00

ASMP New England is excited to announce our 6th “Behind the Lens” program featuring four powerful and brilliant females! Hear from commercial photographers: Meagan Shuptar, Lucy Shaeffer, and Nitya Jain, and well as photo rep: Jenna Teeson. This panel will be moderated by Boston photographer, Nicole Loeb. Each will share two accepted estimates from recent shoots and chat through their bidding process.

As much about business and marketing, as the technical and creative approach, Behind the Lens will showcase these creatives’ promotion, estimating and planning decisions, as well as their amazing images. Join us by Zoom webinar on Wednesday, January 18  at 3:00 pm ET for presentations by these four professionals followed by discussion and Q&A.

Presenters:

Meagan Shuptar

www.meaganshuptar.com

Meagan is a commercial photographer who merges people, product, and interiors into authentic lifestyle + editorial images. With over 15 years of experience, she’s photographed everything from national brands and celebrities, to small startups and brand launches. Her images convey a tangible authenticity and a consistent style whether she’s shooting on location or in the studio. People often describe her as versatile, genuine, and approachable; qualities that support her foundational belief that “Collaboration is key”.  Her calming presence and creativity on set fosters a collaborative environment. She loves spending time with her husband and three kids, traveling to new places, filling her home with eclectic finds and art, and a good Mezcal Old Fashioned. She is based in Chicago but travels often for shoots.

Her client list includes:

Walgreens, McDonald’s, AirBnB, Glade, Humana, Google, Ulta Beauty, Birchbox, Sweetgreen, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Revlon, Allergan, Budweiser and more

Lucy Schaeffer

www.lucyschaeffer.com/

Lucy Schaeffer is a NY-based commercial photographer, director, and author, specializing in food, lifestyle, and interior photography. For the past fifteen years, Lucy has enjoyed shooting advertising campaigns for clients such as Chipotle, Starbucks, Applegate, and Triscuit. Her editorial work has been widely published with clients such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Oprah Magazine, The Food Network, Prevention, and others. She has shot over 50 cookbooks, and had the pleasure of collaborating with many top chefs and personalities along the way.

Nitya Jai

nityajn.com

Nitya is a female photographer based in Austin, Texas. She specializes in food, drink, hospitality, and lifestyle creating vibrant, crave-able visual content for commercial and editorial clients.

Her love of food goes back to my South Asian roots.  She was born in India and grew up in a multi-generational home where the early morning wake up call was a cup of hot cardamom chai while sauces and spices simmered for all the meals to follow. It was all about gathering people around a table over a shared common experience through food and stories.

A background in architecture and graphic design has shaped her photographic journey of weaving light, textures, and space into a timeless experience unique to the brand. Every flavor, space, and place evokes an emotion and that is what she strives to capture in her work.

Jenna Teeson

www.teesonreps.com
