ASMP Copyright Infringement Survey
In working with Members of Congress, U.S. Senators, and their staffs to secure introduction and passage of the CASE Act, ASMP has been asked multiple times for hard data to support our claim that infringement income loss is a huge problem for ASMP members and that it is routine and pernicious in this digital age. They are seeking to support us but want to have evidence to refute claims by tech companies and the “copyleft” that federal court is more than adequate as a remedy, and that the harm caused by infringement is overstated. This argument has attained enough resonance on the Hill that we need to be counteracting it as a narrative
Therefore, we want to share real experiences of income loss as anecdotes, buttressed by some data that shows we know what we’re talking about when expressing the need for passage of the CASE Act in this session of Congress. Your response makes it more likely we have the support we need to overcome those throwing smoke and casting doubt on the value of this legislation. See Congressional testimony of former ASMP Board Chair Jenna Close in support of the CASE Act.
Please take five minutes and participate in the survey to help us convince Congress that copyright infringement is a real problem with a real impact on the ability of creatives to make a living.
For those of you who may have never inquired about the possible infringement of your images, please find the following steps for conducting a reverse image search to find estimated infringement data.
1) Go to images.google.com
2) Enter an image (each link with an infringement counts as 1)
3) If possible, do this reverse image search for your top 5-10 images
Please take the Survey – ASMP thanks you in advance for your participation!.
