About Company
Sigma is a Japanese manufacturer of photographic lenses and cameras. Our production is based entirely in Japan, with our headquarters in Kanagawa and our factory in Aizu, Fukushima. We have been a family-owned company since our founding by Michihiro Yamaki in 1961. Today, Sigma is managed by his son, Kazuto Yamaki. It is this independence that allows us to explore different approaches and pursue our ideal of craftsmanship. Our Aizu factory was established in 1973. To this day, it remains Sigma’s sole manufacturing base, with every step of production – from initial concept to optical engineering, product assembly, quality control, and even parts sourcing – taking place in Japan.
