THE BRIDGE Mentoring Program Coming to LA Summer 2023: Apply to Be a Mentor!

THE BRIDGE is a groundbreaking non-profit mentorship program for Emerging Photographers and creatives aged 18-26 in New York City and new to Los Angeles.
Created by ASMPNY & BKC The Bridge is an immersive 16-week hybrid of professional development workshops, in-studio visits, and dynamic interaction with diverse mentors and seasoned industry professionals. The Bridge is designed to bridge the gap between traditional education and successful industry careers.
We challenge talented young artists to develop their point of view through exercises in creativity and communication, and we provide unparalleled real world experience to help them expand and pursue their goals.
The Bridge is designed to open doors and lift the barriers of time, money, and access. Students build community with their peers and mentors, and take confident steps towards achieving sustainable careers in photography and the arts.
The program consists of an 8-week course starting July 11, 2023 (meeting Sundays in studio 2:00 – 6:00 pm, Tuesdays 6:00 – 9:00 pm online and Thursdays 7:00 – 9:00 pm ET (4:00 – 6:00 pm PT) online, followed by a 4-week September individualized mentorship with a Bridge Mentor. October will be dedicated to completing project work for our November exhibition.
We are currently looking for ASMP Members to be Mentors in our 2023 program. Apply now through May. The Bridge program consists of an eight-week course over the summer, a four-week mentorship with an ASMP member photographer, and culminates with an exhibition of independently created work by the students.
You will work with 1-2 students during the month of September; this is a volunteer opportunity.
In 2021 ASMP NY & BKC launched a new FREE summer photo program for emerging photographers, THE BRIDGE. For too many young people in our industry, the reality is that they have a passion for creating photography, brand new amazing ideas, and personal stories to tell, but little to no shot at actually making what they’re passionate about into a career.
The Bridge Program is here to be the missing link between education and a creative career.
