Workshop: Copyright + Licensing – The Photographer’s Guide
October 22, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT
$200 – $450
Beginning October 22, ASMP General Counsel Thomas Maddrey will be leading a small group of photographers through the ins and outs of copyrights and licensing. This is an opportunity to learn how to obtain, register, protect, enforce, and monetize your copyrights and your livelihood.
Throughout the course (which will meet each Thursday for five weeks in a row at 12pm EST), Tom will intersperse presentations and information with real-life stories from his creator clients and ASMP members.
While you may know the basics of copyright, this course goes much deeper, covering the best way to register (with live demonstrations), what mistakes can you make that will invalidate your registrations in court, how to write an effective license agreement that gets you paid, how to identify where and how your work is being infringed, and, most importantly, how to put a value on your most important asset — your copyrights.
Week One: Copyright For Photographers
Week Two: Registration Procedures + Pitfalls
Week Three: Infringement + Fair Use
Week Four: The License Agreement
Week Five: Making Your Copyrights Make Money
