So often, photographers have been using the same licensing agreements that were handed down to them from years past. Unfortunately, many of these agreements are not going to count when it matters. In this session, we will review what needs to be in your license agreements to be effective, what cannot be in there, and how to write a license that will stand up to scrutiny by your client and the courts. This session will also include how best to get your client on board with your agreements, and when licensing might not be the best option.
Dallas-based attorney, Tom Maddrey of Maddrey PLLC, will provide attendees with information for writing an effective license, and answer your questions in the Q&A following his presentation. Bring your questions. You don’t want to miss this important event.
About the ASMP Legal Clinic
ASMP is well aware that legal services can be a very expensive line item in a photographer’s budget, especially if legal counsel is required to enforce contracts and licensing agreements that may have been breached by clients or third parties. To assist members with broadening their legal knowledge, ASMP is launching a new member benefit – the ASMP Legal Clinic – to provide members with legal knowledge to assist them in navigating those issues that may arise in their day to day work. Instead of the hundreds of dollars an hour it costs to consult an attorney directly, these series of webinars will be a cost-effective way to get critical legal information. ASMP believes that the legal knowledge that will be conveyed in the clinics will assist members in adopting best practices in negotiations and agreements that may be able to help members avoid costly legal expenses in the future.
