The CASE Act

ASMP advocates appear before Congress

ASMP representatives appear before Congress

The CASE Act has been introduced in both the Senate and the House, so now is the time for us to act. For those unfamiliar with the Act, ASMP has posted a great article on its website written by Jenna Close, former chair of our Board of Directors.

Tom Kennedy, Executive Director of ASMP stated that “the introduction of the CASE Act is a critical step in the many-years-long effort by ASMP and its colleagues in the creative community to correct an historic inequity in the copyright law: the failure of the law to provide individual creators with an effective and affordable means to combat infringements of their creative works—an especially vexing problem in a digital environment where piracy occurs at the click of a mouse.”

So now is the time for us to act in support of ourselves. If you do not know all of your US Senators and Congressmen/Congresswomen, you may input your home address here to look up their contact info. We have uploaded an Email template to help guide you, as well as a sample letter written by Jenna Close. We encourage all members to email and/or fax their elected officials, but a phone call reportedly yields the best results. You’ll likely see an email about this coming from ASMP in the next few days.

If you have any questions about this, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.

ASMP. Smarter. Stronger. Together.
