Incoming Presidents Letter

Hello ASMP CT Chapter members!

I’m excited to work with you in the next two years and honored that you trust I’m
up for the job of Chapter President!

I’m a food, interiors and people photographer for hospitality, packaging, editorial
and business clients. I have a BFA in Photography from Syracuse University that
taught me how to use photography to see. I need ASMP to help me succeed in
running my business.

When I was invited to join the board by Allegra Anderson 6 years ago I had no idea
what was in store. Getting to know the other board members and meeting so many
of you at events has reinforced the value of ASMP for me. The network of
photographers is invaluable. Having people to call on with a question, being
there with an answer for others. It’s been wonderful seeing programs brought
to our chapter by the past Board of Directors: The Annual, national speakers,
portfolio reviews, social events and more.

Our outgoing president Adam Coppola had a very challenging term coming right in
the middle of Covid. But he stayed positive and kept us moving forward. We
continued our programing online with some amazing events including the
screening of Stephen Wilkes film Jay Myself that had an online audience of over
300 people.

Our ASMP CT chapter and ASMP National Leadership were a lifeline for me and
many members during Covid; navigating PPP, EIDL Loans, unemployment,
shooting with PPE etc…

Now that we’re on the other side it’s so great to be back to in person events. One
of my initiatives is to have all events free for members. This includes the Annual
and portfolio reviews.

The Women in Photography event on March 30th will be the first event of my term
and a personal goal for our chapter. Our female membership is low and I’d like to
increase that along with growing emerging photographer and student
membership. Bringing back in person Creative Teams has been requested and I’d
love to get that going again.

Feel free to reach out to me or any board members with ideas, suggestions or
questions. Our board meetings are open to all members and take place on the first
Monday of the month, in the morning, either in person or online.

I’m looking forward to working with you all!

See you at Women in Photography on March 30th!
