ASMP: What was your inspiration for making this video?
Sheryl Lanzel: My inspiration for creating this video is bicycling, bicycles and being on a bike… the freedom and the child-like feeling of carefree, joyful fun that always comes to me when I ride my bike!
ASMP: What type of setting do you prefer?
SL: Outdoors… a colorful sky, leaves swaying, etc.
ASMP: Is there anything unique about your style or approach?
SL: Each person is unique, so yes. I bring comfort and show love to each person I interview. I want to hear their story, and I show it, and they feel it.
ASMP: How long have you been shooting this type of photography?
SL: Less than a year. This was my first!
ASMP: When did you join ASMP and what do you find most valuable about your membership?
SL: I joined ASMP very early in my career around 2008 or 2009. The two most valuable things about ASMP membership are the people/lifelong friendships/networking and the classes or workshops that the board designs and produces for the members. Invaluable.
ASMP: What kind of gear do you use?
ASMP: What do you know now that you wish you had known when you first started your career as a photographer?
SL: Early in my career I wish I had understood that my clients value and want my opinion and suggestions and viewpoint. I now know that’s why they hire me!
