Joel Grimes, an internationally recognized commercial photographer from Phoenix, AZ  is coming to Denver, CO, on Saturday, March 2, 2019, to present two programs to photographers and the public at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Seating is limited. The event is expected to sell out.

“A Day with Joel Grimes”  is an all-day seminar from 8:00am-4:00pm. The seminar comprises a morning session on branding and marketing, followed by an afternoon demonstration in which he will illustrate his remarkable shooting and lighting techniques. This 2019 premier educational event of ASMP Colorado is for both students and seasoned professionals in not only commercial photography, but in most creative arts fields. Please register below. The seminar will be held at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (Philip J Steele Gallery and MH Auditorium), 1600 Pierce St, Lakewood, CO 80214. Campus map on the RMCAD website. There will be signs and people outside directing attendees to the auditorium.

For commercial photographers, getting work seen by the people who might hire them is one of the most important parts of business. If you are having trouble identifying and communicating your brand to the right audience, or if you’re watching other photographers and creatives getting work while you’re struggling to fill the calendar, this event is for you. The morning session will focus on ways to make that happen and much more.

In the afternoon session, Grimes will demonstrate his lighting and shooting techniques with models showing just what he does to achieve the beautiful, natural looking light recognized as his signature style.

Joel Grimes: For over 27 years, Joel has worked for many of the top advertising agencies and corporations across the globe for clients such as Arizona Office of Tourism, AT&T, Broncos, Comcast, Goldman Sachs, Hewlett Packard, Hyatt, Kodak, Nikon, Pentax, Phillips 66, Philip Morris, Procter & Gamble, Pfizer, Qwest, Red Bull, Sony, Sturm Ruger & Co, United Global, USA Boxing, Visa, Volvo, and Xcel Energy. Over the years his assignments have taken him to every state across the USA and to over fifty countries around the globe.

After earning his BFA in Photography from the University of Arizona, Joel started a commercial studio right here in Denver, Colorado!!

In 1990, Joel produced his first coffee table book, ‘Navajo, Portrait of a Nation’ which received a number of photographic and design awards and produce an eighteen-month solo exhibit at the Smithsonian American History museum. Driven by the creative process, Joel views himself as an illusionist, creating portraits larger than life. “There is no face on the planet that is the same, my vision as an artist is to capture that individual uniqueness through the photographic process.”

Joel is an ambassador for the creative process by teaching workshops and lectures around the world. “I feel that by being an open book with my process I have an opportunity to inspire others to follow their dreams and passions to create”.
