ASMP Colorado Seeks Diverse Board and Committee Volunteers

ASMP Colorado seeks a diverse group of volunteers to staff our operating committees in 2022. To help our chapter and organization become more diverse and inclusive, and to ensure we reflect a range of viewpoints and ideas, we want to build a board of directors and supporting volunteers that represents Colorado’s demographics for race and gender.

Here’s a snapshot of Colorado from a July 2019 estimate on the Census.gov website:

Rounding up these figures for a slate of 16 committee volunteers, our appropriate mix of backgrounds to fairly represent our state’s demographics would comprise:

  • 50% female ~ 8
  • 22% Latinx ~ 4
  • 5% Black ~ 1
  • 5% LGBTQ from the Movement Advancement Project ~ 1
  • 4% Asian ~ 1
  • 2% Indigenous ~ 1
  • 68% white ~ 11

Committee positions available but not necessarily limited to:

  • Website
  • Social media
  • Events
  • Membership
  • Marketing
  • Education

If you’re interested, please feel free to contact one of our board members or fill out this short interest form. Please share our call with photographer friends you think might benefit from this opportunity. We believe a diverse group of 2022 committee members will greatly benefit to our organization – and community.

ASMP’s core mission is to advocate, educate and provide community for image makers, and to promote thriving careers for photographers with a strong sense of professional ethics. We plan to live by these values and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all photographers, including those from every race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexuality, ability and religion.

Please check out both the local and national benefits of ASMP membership, learn more about ASMP Colorado and our national organization, read our DEI Statement and Mission, come to our local events, and attend our national events to see who we are, meet some of us and hopefully learn something new.
