Congratulations to the new ASMP Chicago/Midwest Chapter President, Robin Subar! ASMP Chicago/Midwest sends a huge thank you to Mary Rafferty for her visionary leadership over the past two years as president.

Robin has been working as a professional photographer for over 12 years. She began her career in the industry as a producer and hopes to leverage those planning skills when it comes to creating compelling programming. Take a look at Robin’s letter below to learn a bit more about her and what she plans to bring to this role!

Hello fellow photographers/creatives,

I am humbled to take on the role of ASMP Chicago/Midwest Board President. As a portrait photographer, I joined the board of ASMP in 2018 after attending an inspiring workshop with Sandro Miller. Since then I have connected, collaborated, and sought credible advice from the myriad of new resources at my disposal, such as our Find a Photographer marketing tool and weekly Town Hall Webinars. I’d like to thank my predecessor, Mary Rafferty for her leadership and hard work, culminating in the crescendo of the memorable Strictly Business workshop in January 2020!

This is certainly an interesting point in time to take on a leadership role. I can’t pretend for a minute that I possess all of the skills necessary to meet the needs of our community vis à vis  ASMP. What I do know is that I am approachable, resourceful, inclusive, a problem solver, and a team player. And I will need your help and input in order to respond to YOUR needs as individuals and a community.

During my first ASMP Chapter leader Zoom meeting last month, ASMP National President, Marianne Lee said, “Our membership right now is the entire creative community.” I believe she is spot on. There has never been a more critical time to support one another than the present. I, therefore, welcome everyone with open arms to participate in ASMP Chicago/Midwest.

With that sentiment, we are currently offering monthly webinars on a range of topics to help stimulate creativity and professional development during this time. You can learn more about upcoming webinars on our events page. I am always interested in hearing from you! If you have any questions about ASMP, suggestions for future programs, or other thoughts about the chapter, feel free to send me an email!

I look forward to meeting many of you personally when we emerge on the other side and to a “new normal” and hope you all stay safe and healthy.

Warmest regards,
Robin Subar
