ASMP Chicago/Midwest Portraiture Master Class with Sandro 2019 Images

Thanks to all of the photographers who joined us for our 2019 Portraiture Master Class with Sandro! Day one started with a trip to the Museum of Contemporary Photography for a private viewing of Sandro‘s photographs alongside works by other portrait photographers including Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Lisa Lindvay, and Clarissa Bonet. Back at Sandro’s studio, Sandro took us behind the scenes of his work, inspiration, and insight into his incredible career. On the second day, Sandro showed different approaches to lighting set-ups in the studio and surprised us with an artist talk by the master photographer Steve Shapiro that ended in Sandro asking to take Steve’s portrait leading to a moment of great respect. Day three allowed us to continue practicing as we implemented Sandro’s advice into practice.
