On May 17, ASMP Chicago/Midwest members met at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center for a indepth look into the museum’s photography exhibitions including the current exhibit Speak Truth to Power featuring photography by ASMP legend Eddie Adams. Chief Curator of Collections and Exhibitions Arielle Weininger began the evening with a presentation of past, present, and future photography exhibitions held at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center including current exhibitions Speak Truth to Power and Where the Children Sleep by Swedish photojournalist Magnus Wennman and upcoming exhibitions Stories of Survival: Object, Image, Memory with work by Jim Lommasson and Activists and Icons: The photographs of Steve Schapiro. Exhibitions Manager John Tweedie joined Arielle for a behind the scenes look at the making and process of exhibiting interactive holograms of Holocaust survivors in the new Take a Stand Center. After experiencing the exhibit, Arielle and John were present to answer questions about the curatorial process of Speak Truth to Power and to answer any additional information about the institution itself. Speak Truth to Power is now on view through June 24, 2018.

Thanks to Ron Gould and Robert Erving Potter III for documenting the event!
