Join the ASMP Donor’s Circle
The ASMP Foundation has launched the ASMP Donor’s Circle, a new grant program that will provide immediate financial assistance to photography professionals affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
Photographers, stylists, assistants, digital techs, production assistants, etc. – anyone who makes a living in the still or motion capture business – are all eligible to apply for funding.
ASMP is not going to decide who receives our support. After an applicant fills out a short questionnaire certifying that they qualify for the program, their name will be entered into a random drawing.
The names chosen at random will receive Donor’s Circle grants of $250 each. This first phase of the program has been funded by seed donations from ASMP Minneapolis-St. Paul member John Haynes and Polara Studios in Portland, Oregon.
In the program’s second phase, we hope to fund one thousand $250 grants.
This project is the brain child of John Haynes, mentioned above. Here’s the story, in John’s own words:
“COVID-19 has upended everything for folks who work on photo sets, and it’s hard to know what returning to work will mean or when it will happen. For so many, immediate financial needs are front of mind. I’m fortunate to be in a position that my immediate financial needs are met; when I got my $1200 stimulus check I felt I didn’t really need it, but knew there were some other folks who did. That was the beginning of a donor circle. If you are someone who is serious about your photo career and you’re finding yourself in financial need, please reach out to ASMP’s Donor’s Circle. I want as many of us to successfully come out the other side of this as possible, and the best way to do that is together.”
