ASMP COVID-19 Advocacy

The political process during this pandemic is very fluid and the full contours of legislation continues to be shaped, even as programs are implemented.

We urge all of you to continue to make your voices heard about the relief you’re seeking from federal and state governments and what you expect your officials to do to address your needs in ASMP campaigns. To assist you with these efforts, we will continue to launch advocacy campaigns that you can personalize to send your message to those officials charged with being responsible for your health and safety.

NEW – ASMP COVID-19 Economic Relief Survey

Thank you to all who participated in the recent ASMP COVID-19 Impact Survey. The results will be reported shortly. Your participation has assisted us with communicating the needs of the creative community – freelancers and small business owners – to key Congressional leaders for their consideration in legislative discussions about COVID-19 relief funding, as well as determine topics for upcoming webinars.

If you have applied for Small Business Administration (SBA) relief programs (PPP or EIDL), non-SBA grants/loans, or applied or will be applying for state unemployment insurance benefits (UC or PUA), we would appreciate you taking five minutes to provide input about your application experiences in the COVID-19 Economic Relief Survey. Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, so all survey responses are registered as anonymous.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

ASMP COVID-19 Stimulus Legislation Advocacy Campaign

Given the nature of freelance work and the impact of “gig” economy work that members of the creative community may be carrying out, ASMP is urging that any legislative stimulus funds for small business be broad enough to ensure that it reaches our members and others similarly situated.  Members of the creative community need a solution that covers lost income until clients resume normal business operations.  It is clear that the first rounds of stimulus were insufficient to mitigate the full effects of the coronavirus on small businesses and that more funding is needed to expand the PPP and other SBA grant programs to provide genuine relief for freelancers, sole proprietors, and microbusinesses.

Send Your Letters to Congress Now!

Your voice is needed at this critical juncture to ensure that Congress addresses the needs of the entire small business community in all government relief programs. Send your personalized message to your US Representative and Senators now by clicking on the button below.

3.13.20: ASMP has sent letters to key Representatives and Senators to urge their immediate action on legislation to address the needs of photographers and their families.  We will continue to work with our colleagues in other organizations and members of Congress to secure swift passage.  We believe such legislation must include solutions that clearly work to the benefit of independent photographers as small business owners and that such aid is as important as the aid aimed at large companies also experiencing financial harm.
