Alicia Wagner Calzada is a Media Law Attorney based in San Antonio, Texas. She serves as the Deputy General Counsel for the National Press Photographers Association and her clients include print and online publications as well as individual photographers and journalists. She works on a variety of matters including defamation, First Amendment, copyright and social media and speaks regularly on these issues.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Alicia was a photojournalist for 20 years. Her photography has been published in a wide range of books, magazines, and newspapers. In 2013, the NPPA created the Alicia Calzada First Amendment award to recognize individuals whose efforts have improved First Amendment rights for photographers.
While copyright may not be that clear in the age of social networks, there are elements of copyright law that are easy to understand. Alicia will provide a basic knowledge of copyright laws and the small claims bill they are currently working towards getting passed in Congress.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please email email@example.com or check out the 4×5 Photo Fest website.
