ASMP has been working diligently for the last two years to secure enactment of our top legislative priority—creation of a small claims copyright court. The good news is that it’s gaining momentum on Capitol Hill.

The goal of HR 3945 “Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act of 2017” (the “CASE Act”) is to:

1. To protect and promote the interests of professional still and motion photographers, and associated imaging professionals by providing better legal options when they are faced with a copyright infringement

2. To create a small claims tribunal within the U.S. Copyright Office so that photographers can utilize a system that is more affordable and less complicated than going to federal court

3. To maintain and promote high professional standards and ethics in the professional still and motion photography industry, and associated imaging fields
