COVID-19 Advocacy: ASMP Sends Letters to Key Congressional Leaders Urging Additional Relief Funds

ASMP Executive Director Tom Kennedy has sent letters urging key Congressional members, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), to commit to additional relief funds supporting the creative community. Read letter to Congressional leaders.

Given the nature of freelance work and the impact of “gig” economy work that members of the creative community may be carrying out, ASMP is urging that any legislative relief funds for small business be broad enough to ensure that it reaches our members and others similarly situated.  Members of the creative community need a solution that covers lost income until clients resume normal business operations.  It is clear that the first round of stimulus was insufficient to mitigate the full effects of the coronavirus on small businesses and that more funding is needed to provide genuine relief.
