This Advocacy Alert comes via the Drone Advocacy Alliance, a lobbying group focused on legislation that affects drones and drone pilots. Tomorrow, February 15, a Congressional subcommittee will hold a hearing on H.R. 2864, the “Countering CCP Drones Act” which amends current law to list drones made by DJI and mark them a national security risk. While this currently seems to specifically concerns purchases and use by government entities, ASMP remains concerned when legislation has the potential to affect wide swaths of both recreational and professional users. You can read more about the bill, evaluate the arguments, and make your voice heard via the outreach forms found at DAA.
As always, ASMP will remain at the forefront of advocacy related to issues that affect its members and photographers and videographers as a whole.
