Born in 1918, photographer Arnold Newman has died of a heart attack. During his career, he became famous for an “environmental” style of portrait photography, although many of the celebrities he photographed were done in more of an impressionistic or surrealist style.

The International Photographic Council (IPC), a non-governmental organization of the United Nations, celebrated “International Professional Photographers Month” by hosting the 8th annual IPC Awards Luncheon at the United Nations on May 24th. George Long, president of the New Orleans/Gulf South chapter of ASMP, received a Leadership Award at the fete.
