Pricing Help

[by Ed McDonald]

You can find out how other photographers priced and negotiated real jobs. Take a look at some on ASMP’s web site in the paperwork share section.

Go to ASMP.org  under Business Resources/ Tutorials and forms/ licensing and paperwork share. Or, go directly by clicking here.

  1. Hi everyone,

I’ve just been presented with an incredible opprotunity to be the photographer for a coffee table photo book with publisher Harry Abrams. This is my very first project of this magnitude and as I am very excited I desperately need some help/advice as to ensure I create a lean/fair budget to shoot 30-50 individual portraits in various cities over a 6 month time span.

In addition to the shooting budget, what should my creative fee be for something like this?

Most of the people I will be photographing are famous, however the publisher/producers of the book continue to STRESS that the budget needs to be LEAN and they have passed on many other established photographers because their budget/estimate was too bloated for the money available. Help!!
