Leslie Burns-Dell'Acqua

book coverLeslie Burns-Dell'Acqua has been professionally involved in the creative industries since 1992, after growing up in a house full of creatives and spending far too many years in college and graduate school. Her first full-time foray into the industries was as a photographer's studio manager and marketing rep, where she also served as an officer of her local creative club. From there she went to the "other side," working for an interactive design firm and an advertising agency. But her passion was always with the individual creative professional.

She launched the oddly-named Burns Auto Parts (her grandfather sold auto parts) in September of 1999, originally to rep photographers. However, in a few years (thanks to the internet) her expertise was demanded by larger audiences; so she transitioned to consulting to respond to that need. Focused on helping creative professionals make their livings doing what they love, she still works primarily with commercial photographers, using skills honed from her years on both sides of the photo business equation, her constant personal studies and research, and even a bit of her graduate education.

In addition to her consulting and coaching work, Leslie has written chapters in both the 2003 and 2006 Photographer's Market and has published her own beginning photo business book. She produces regular articles for her own website, and she writes a regular column in Picture magazine. She has taught Photo Business at the Columbus College of Art & Design, lectured at Brooks Institute, and her participation on photo-related forums is well known. She also lectures to ASMP and other creative groups across the US, blogs often, and produces a monthly podcast, Creative Lube. Learn more at http://www.burnsautoparts.com.
