Autistic Struggle
G. Pike struggles against his parents and several volunteers as they try to place him in a lifejacket at the Surfers Healing event on Wrightsville Beach, NC. The event exposes autistic children and their families to the experience of surfing. Many autistic children often suffer from sensory overload- everyday sensations, such as wearing clothing, are overwhelming to them. For some, water is a very soothing medium. The goal of the group is to offer a new experience that may be used as positive therapy.
