What do you consider to be the most valuable aspect of your membership in the ASMP?
- Developing a respect and understanding for the business side of the profession.
- ASMP established guidelines and relationships with the AIA.
- Access to seasoned professionals.
- Vendor relationships.
What service or information could ASMP provide to you as an international member that would add value to your membership?
- Access or updates on activities (primarily professional development) in locations other than the US.
- Customizable forms and contracts that protect under Canadian contract and copyright law.
- Some of the roadshows in the US could be extended to one or two locations in Canada.
Would you be willing to pay extra for this service? No.
Do you participate in any of the existing ASMP specialty groups or listservs? If so, which ones?
Yes, the Architecture group.
Do you belong to other local photographic or professional associations within your local community?
No.
What is your primary source of news about the photography industry?
ASMP news releases and Web site.
In your opinion, what is the most critical issue affecting photographers in your local community today?
Respect for the profession, demonstrating value and being compensated appropriately.
In the interest of building community and forging strategic alliances, would you be willing to share resources and knowledge of your local market with another ASMP member if they were to contact you in advance of a trip to your area?
I may have limited knowledge in this area, but I would be more than happy to help a traveling photographer. Especially ASMP members. ;)
